Dear Professor :

On the nomination of the Department of Philosophy and in cooperation with Union Theological Seminary, President directs me to extend to you an invitation to be Visiting Lecturer in Philosophy at Columbia University for the academic year 1933–34. The stipend of the Lectureship will be $1,200 paid in twelve installments, but the instruction will consist of thirty lectures to be given in the Spring Session. This arrangement will leave the Winter Session free for the acceptance by you of invitations from other institutions and organizations for lectures and conferences.

The officers of Union Theological Seminary have, I think, some suggestion to make to you in regard to living quarters but they will communicate with you direct.

We hope very much that you will find it possible to accept this invitation.
