Dear Sir,

Being in charge to organize a new faculty of the social sciences at Groningen State University, Holland, the Netherland's government gave me a grant for „professional observation“ in the U. S. A. during three months (20th March – 20th June).

Although my main object is to study some methods of modern social research in the States, I have many interests, especially in the field of social philosophy and social ethics. I hope you will allow me to pay you a visit – – bringing you the very kind regards of my friend and colleague Helmuth Plessner (Ordinarius of philosophy at our University)[.] Last year I was guest-professor of sociology at Münster University. I made a close study about the German refugee-problem; as a matter of fact these 12 millions uprooted are a danger for Europe. I gathered materials and published part of my observations.1 Whenever there might be in your Seminar interest |:(on a discussion):| in these problems, we could consider the possibility of some lectures on this subject.
