Dear Prof. Tillich.

This is to thank you for your postcard.1 Unfortunately I cannot be in New-York in the end of this month or in the beginning of October. I am teaching school here like a real {Schulpauker} (German and history). But if you should think it wise for me to come to see you over a weekend I could easily do it.

The reason and the cause for seeing you were some conversations with Prof. Ulich and Prof. Fr. Grant. I want to go to |:teach in:| a college if possible, to in a denominational college. Yet I do not know, how I could get there. In Germany I had studied economics and published something in this field. I was assistant to Sombart and Jastrow. In the meantime I did not work any longer in the field of economics.|

Since 5 years I have been working in the field of the philosophy of history. I focussed {fint} my interest on the development of the cycle theory. About this problem I published two papers in the Anglican Theological review.2 During the last 6 months I am working about the collective spirit and the folksoul, I used specially older German literature. Due to the lack of time (I teach 5 hours daily on top of that I will be used as mixture of police dog and Prussian {sergeant} against {riotous} youngsters) I do not go ahead very fast with my paper. I send you my first paper, the second which is in print is much better. You will get it also in due time.

I am sure this is the 3815th letter of this kind despite you have received, despite that I would be very glad if you could do anything for me. Please excuse this long letter.
