Fromm, Erich Pinchas (23.3.1900 Frankfurt/M. – 18.3.1980 Muralto bei Locarno), analytischer Sozialpsychologe jüd. Abstammung; Studium in Soziologie, Psychologie und Philos. (ab 1919); Psychoanalyse (ab 1924); Emigration in die USA (1933/34); Übersiedlung in die Schweiz (1974); gehört neben K.Horney und H.St.Sullivan zu den Hauptvertretern der sog. Neopsychoanalyse; betont in seiner Kritik an S.Freud die Bedeutung sozial-kultureller Einflüsse auf das Individuum und dessen Triebstruktur (Trieb); vertritt einen radikalen Humanismus und akzentuiert die menschlichen Bedürfnisse nach Bezogenheit, Identitätserleben und Transzendenz; propagiert eine humanistische Rel. (Vervollkommnung des Menschen; Gott als Symbol für wahre Menschlichkeit).
