Dear Mr. Marshall (Details anzeigen):

As I understand you represent for the time being Mr. Stevens (Details anzeigen) in the Humanities of the Rockefeller Foundation. I write you in behalf of Prof. Siegfried Marck (Details anzeigen) and his manuscript about which Mr. Stevens (Details anzeigen) asked me to give a report. I have talked to him before he left for the West coast, and I have recommended the book which I think has a very high scholarly quality. I remember that Mr. Stevens (Details anzeigen) had a rather favorable reaction.

I expressed at that occasion also some criticisms about the use of too much German material which is not known in this country. Prof. Marck (Details anzeigen) agreed with me that the sections referred to had to be changed in order to make the book more readable for the American public. I would like to know whether he can expect a financial help for a translator. Since the voyage of Mr. Stevens (Details anzeigen) has delayed the matter for several months I would be grateful to you if you gave Prof. Marck (Details anzeigen) a green signal that he can go ahead with the translation.
