Dear Miss Watson (Details anzeigen):

Referring to your request of November 21 (Details anzeigen), concerning Mrs. Margaret Blumenfeld Plaut (Details anzeigen) I would like to give you the following information:

I have known Mrs. Plaut (Details anzeigen) already in Europe (Details anzeigen) and have then met her often in this country from 1938 on. Mrs. Plaut (Details anzeigen) has been and still is one of the most efficient volunteer social workers of the SELFHELP OF EMIGRES FROM CENTRAL EUROPE (Details anzeigen), Inc. of which organization I am the Chairman. She is excellent in interviewing people, has full understanding for their problems, a clear point of view and consequently always finds a way in rehabilitating refugees or placing them on the right job. Besides that she has creative abilities. She composes the pamphlet for Selfhelp, edits reports and appeals.

For the last three years she acts as Executive Secretary of the COOPERATIVE RESIDENCE CLUB, a home for elderly refugees, working in close cooperation with Selfhelp. She is doing this work independently and very efficiently.

Mrs. Plaut (Details anzeigen) stems from a highly cultured family. Both her educational background and her intellectual standard qualify her for whatever position you might secure for her. I know very few people whom I would recommend as strongly as I do recommend Mrs. Plaut (Details anzeigen).

Sincerely yours,

Paul Tillich (Details anzeigen)
Professor at Union Theological Seminary, New York City (Details anzeigen)
