- Picasso, Pablo (25.10.1881 Malaga – 8.4.1973 Mougins) war einer der bedeutendsten Künstler des 20. Jahrhunderts. Er schuf in verschiedenen grafischen Techniken zahlreiche Illustrationen, oft als eigenständige künstlerische Interpretationen literarischer Texte. Erste Zeichnungen veröffentlichte er 1901, seine erste Buchillustration erschien 1911 für Max Jacob. Später illustrierte er Werke von Paul Eluard, Iliazd, Aimé Césaire, René Char, Tristan Tzara und anderen. Diese Arbeiten, vom Titelbild bis zu umfangreichen Radier- und Lithografien, spiegeln wichtige Stationen seiner künstlerischen Entwicklung.
