My dear Professor Tillich;–

Your recent article in Theology Today on the Present Theological Situation was of great interest to me. I want to express my appreciation for it.

It so happened that when I came to read your article I had just finished reading The Continuity of the Christian Faith by Alexander Allen. In the light of your position I am wondering what you would think of Allen. The two pose a dialectic for me which it seems to me must somehow be resolved, nor is the dialectic purely {accademic} but rather existential for it has to do with the question as to what Christianity essentially is and therefore what we use to preach.
