To Members of the University Seminar on Religion and Health:

Enclosed you will find two items pertaining to the work of the seminar this year. Of immediate importance is the copy of the bulletin on University Seminars, which includes a description of our seminar.1 Because this information had to go to press while most of us were out of town, Professor Friess (Details anzeigen) was good enough to summarize the intentions of the group as we discussed them at our two meetings in the spring and to put them in this public form. Please read it with care as it contains information regarding the place and time of our meetings, procedure for admitting students to the course, etc. The second enclosure is a copy of Professor Tillich (Details anzeigen)'s paper2 written during the summer for the group. You will recall that at our last meeting we agreed to devote the first month or two to the discussion of this and other papers.

Our first meeting will take place Wednesday, October 3rd, 7:30 p.m., in 228 South Hall. The cooperation of the group is asked in seeing that qualified students be referred to Professor Friess (Details anzeigen) or Chaplain Rice (Details anzeigen) by September 25th. The matter of student personnel is urgent. The group expressed its desire at our spring meetings to have students in the group represent the same variety of interest and professional intent as is commensurate with our project. It is up to the faculty of the seminar to bring the project to the attention of qualified and interested students in the various fields which we represent. The first group of students to be admitted will be approved by the Executive Committee, made up of Professors Friess (Details anzeigen), Rado (Details anzeigen), Roberts (Details anzeigen) and Chaplain Rice (Details anzeigen). Other students can be admitted subsequently at the discretion of the group as a whole.

If anyone in the group is unable to attend our first meeting, will he be good enough to let me know in advance.

Frederick deW. Bolman, Jr. (Details anzeigen)

Secretary for the Seminar
