Dear Doctor Tillich (Details anzeigen):

I have read over carefully your three articles in THE PROTESTANT. As a political philosophy they really express the best in the American ideal but I do not see that they are connected particularly with the Christian religion except that they are printed in a religious publication.

It seems to me that you expressed in an authoritative way the philosophy which the United States government has since picked up because of the war effort and gradually out of this is coming the war aims.

Your comments on the social changes seem to be the general trend. The idea of the peace conference that can attain social, political and intellectual structure of life in which the conditions of the present catastrophe are overcome is the ideal of democracy. Are democracy and Christianity synonymous?

I enjoyed these articles very much.

Very sincerely yours,

Wilson Parkhill (Details anzeigen)
