- Giovanni Bellini (nach 1430 – 29. November 1516) prägte als „pictor nostri Domini“ der Republik Venedig die Renaissance-Malerei, vollendete mit Altarwerken wie der San-Giobbe- und der San-Zaccaria-Pala den Typus der sacra conversazione und schuf monumentale Historien- sowie feinfarbige Porträts, etwa das des Dogen Leonardo Loredan. Seine spätmythologische Tafel Götterfest zeigt die weltliche Seite seines Œuvres; auf seinen koloristischen Grundlagen bauten Giorgione und Tizian auf.
